FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the difference between a 30-year roof and a 40-year roof?

The main difference lies in the thickness, appearance, wind rating, and the manufacturer’s warranty.

What should I expect during the roofing process?

The roofing process involved significant noise, vibrations, and debris, which may be noticeable on the ground and in the garage. However, we ensure that cleanup is performed at the end of each day. Our crew will require driveway and street access for parking trucks, as well as a power source. We recommend securing or removing wall-mounded items such as pictures and parking vehicles outside the garage during the project.

Will there be a foreman on site I can speak to?

Yes, a foreman will be present on-site throughout the project to address any concerns. Additionally, Kurt will always be available to assist you directly.

Can I work with one contractor for a project with a larger scope?

Absolutely. As a licensed general contractor and roofing contractor, Kurt and our team can handle much of the work in-house. For specialized tasks, we coordinate with and hire qualified subcontractors as needed.

What happens to my existing solar system during the roofing project?

In most cases, the solar system will need to be temporarily removed. However, there are situations where we can work around it, depending on the specifics of your project.

What is Title 24?

Title 24 refers to California’s Energy Efficiency Standards for Residential and Nonresidential Buildings. These standards, established in 1978, aim to reduce energy consumption statewide. They are periodically updated to incorporate new energy-efficient technologies and methods.

How long do roofs typically last?

The lifespan of a roof depends on several factors, including weather exposure, climate, ventilation, and construction quality. A standard residential shingle roof – whether composition, flat tar, or cedar shake – generally lasts 23 to 28 years under typical conditions.
